All The Stars We Cannot See Exhibition
On view December 12, 2025 – January 7, 2026 | KCT Urban Screens
ARTSCO is proud to present All the Stars We Cannot See, an immersive digital installation by artists Megan Smith and Gao Yujie, launching this Friday, December 12th, on the KCT Urban Screens in downtown Kelowna. The exhibition will run through January 7th, 2026.
This internationally recognized project situates viewers beneath a virtual sky illuminated by 25,500+ satellites orbiting Earth. By visualizing real satellite data at planetary scale, the installation reveals the accelerating growth of satellite density and its profound implications. Audiences are invited to consider the expanding mechanisms of surveillance, the economics of space colonization, and the political forces shaping the future of our shared sky.
All the Stars We Cannot See first opened to the public in April 2022 at UBC Okanagan’s Visualization & Emerging Media Studio and has since been exhibited worldwide, including at EVA London, Technarte Bilbao, the Kelowna Art Gallery, York University, the Festival International de la Imagen (Colombia), and Fotografiska Shanghai. The work received an Honorary Mention at Ars Electronica in 2022, marking it as a significant contribution to contemporary media art.
We are excited to bring this large-scale immersive experience to the KCT Urban Screens, offering the community a chance to look up, reflect, and reimagine the night sky transformed by human-made constellations.
