Shellsong
Celebrating the Canadian Country Music Awards in Kelowna, September 10th-13th 2025
Animated Exhibition at the Kelowna Community Theatre Urban Screens
Shellsong was created in celebration of the Country Music Awards arriving in Kelowna, channeling the Okanagan’s unique character into a meeting of music, nature, and imagination.
At its heart, the animation explores connection through music: a cowboy strums his guitar for a turtle, their exchange framed by the valley’s textures of water, stone, flora, and tumbleweeds. The looping rhythm reflects continuity, tradition, and renewal, echoing the cycles of both music and nature. Ultimately, the work celebrates the harmony that emerges when human creativity listens to and honours the natural world.
