Megan Byers questions the history of the portrayal of the female figure by painting images that have a sexually charged feeling, even if these images are completely innocent. She explores themes of feminism, sexuality, beauty standards, gender norms, and the history of the portrayal of women.
Megan is currently finishing her final semester in the Visual Arts program at UBC Okanagan in pursuits of her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. She is from Salmon Arm BC, currently living in Kelowna, working part-timeas a server while continuing her education. She mainly works with oil paint on canvas, with recent experimentation in folding and unfolding the un-stretched canvas during the painting process.
