Artscape (maintained since 1995) is a suite of community exhibition spaces, run year round, which includes: the Okanagan Regional Library – downtown Kelowna and Mission branches, the Kelowna Community Theatre, and Okanagan College’s Kelowna Campus Library.
In 2016, Artscape expanded into three new venues: Okanagan Regional Library – Rutland Branch, and the Aubin and Associates – notary public office in Rutland. In 2017, Artscape added Interior Health – Downtown Offices and Kelowna Tickets.
Program Goals

- enrich public spaces with artwork
- provide accessible art viewing experiences
- provide much-needed exhibition opportunities for local artists
- showcase artwork in high traffic areas
- publicize exhibitions to local media, website and social media
- build exhibition resumes of local artists
- foster and encourage the purchasing of local artwork
- increase public awareness of artwork and artistic practices of local artists
- present a variety of artwork in a variety of mediums
- educate artists about professional exhibition practices
Curatorial / Jurying Criteria
- Inclusion – Artscape is open to artists of all skill levels, ages, area of residence and recent exhibition history – for example, if an applicant has had the opportunity to show their work in the Central Okanagan recently, this will become a factor in the acceptance of their work
- Excellence – work demonstrates a commitment to artistic exploration, risk-taking, and aesthetics
- Variety – Artscape’s overall annual exhibition schedule presents a wide variety of mediums and artistic approaches
- Professional Practice – applicants meet application requirements: artist statement, resume / CV, bio, good quality images, etc.
